7:00 PM
The doors of three black vans opened annnd twenty-one men and women hopped out. Each was armed with two grenades, an assult rifle or a machine gun, a pistol, and a pair of nightvision goggles. They were wearing black SWAT uniforms and soft soled shoes. As the black vans drove off in the distance, three more vans painted to camouflage with the trees, drove into the forest. The agents set up cameras surrounding the laboratory so that they could see anybody entering or exiting the building. The special agents got into the camouflagues vans, and waited and watched for It to arrive.
As if on cue, the bubbles broke the surface. The creature swam towards the shore eager for It's next meal. It quickly made It's way across the beach, into the woods, and across the road. It passed really close to one of the vans, not noticing this strange thing in It's environment. It continued on It's way without hesitation. A red light flashed silently in the vans. This light meant that that something larger than a rabbit was walking to the lab. Everyone turned to the television screens. A large lizard-like thing was making It's was towards the lab. All twenty-one SWAT members got out of the vans. Kelling picked up her walkie talkie and turned it on. So did everyone else. Then she called Police headquarters on her cell phone and requested backup. When she was done, everyone split up and they surrounded the building. They began closing in. The circle of agents getting smaller and smaller. They all flattened themselves against the ground, a tree, or the building, as a light came on and a scientist walked in the direction of the small block house they had found earlier. Two men quickly overpowered him. They dragged him back to one of the vans, where another police officcer arrested him and read him his rights. Then they returned to join the others. One was holding the door that the scientist had exited from open, and one by one, they entered. Manchek stayed outside with half the agents while Kelling went inside with the rest.
A lone scientist stood next to the beast, waiting for the other to return. At last he leaned down towards the creature and said, There's somethin' goin' on out there." Inside his head he heard, 'Well go check it out' The scientist looked down at the monster and shook his head. It nudged him gently with his snout, then more violently as he refused to cooperate. Finally he got the scientist to peek out the door. The scientist took one look and quickly closed the door. "It's da cops!" He told It. "Dats it, we're doomed. Dey got dose guns that yous only see in da movies!" It payed no attention to his wailings. It was deep in thought. Sarah was also deep in thought. She was trying to use her abilities to "see" where the main room was. She was sure that that was where the lizard-thing would be. As she was searching though, she stumbled upon something else. Something interesting. She felt the presence of another entity with her telepathic abilities. She walked in the direction that the vibes were coming from. She motioned for the officer behind her to open the door. He did so with his gun drawn. As he walked into the room, something hit him from behind and ripped to shreds in an instant. Kelling stared in horror. She realised that the thing was the one who was telepathic. That was not good. The gunmen behind her charged into the room and surrounded It. They acted like this was a routine arrest. They even yelled "Freeze!" and pointed there guns at It. None of it did any good. Soon most of them were sprawled on the floor, bleeding or holding their intestines. Throughall of this commotion, Sarah established communication with the beast. She looked at it and thought, 'Why? A piece of arm fell from It's mouth as It stopped chewing. It looked at her. 'Why?' she repeated. 'Out of spite.' It thought. 'For whom?' 'My parents. When I was born, I was human. I had AIDS and my parents were horrified. They put me up for adoption. I was adopted by this mad Russian scientist who said he had a cure. It was a cure, but it had bad side effects. He tried to fix it, but instead it got worse. I was transformed into what you see now. But my transformation gave me this telepathic ability. As I grew older, I learned that there had been another before me. I also found out that my father, Chief of Police Ted Williams, was the one who killed It, along with you and Manchek. 'The mad scientist promised to take care of me, and he did, feeding me elderly people and street kids. In return, I let him preform tests on me to see how my condition could benefit Russia. 'When I learned that Williams knew about my existance, I had him kidnapped. I ate him later that night. His wife, Margrett, was working with us at te time. When the scientists told me that she was his wife and my mother, I ate her. 'I was supposed to eat one of the divers you stole from me tonight, but since you're here and they're not, I guess I'll just have to eat you and the rest of your troops instead. I can't have you running around telling everyone about me, now can I?' It smiled wickedly, almost human-like. As he lept towards her, she used all of the mind power she could gather to lift a gurney and hurl it at It. It made contact in mid-air. The monster fell grunting to the ground and looked at her with a childish awe. 'I've never been able to go that before.' 'That just shows how limited your powers are.' she told It. Her thoughts left her when the thing was down. They travelled to the road. She "saw" the backup arriving and meeting Manchek at the vans. She reverted her concentration back to the situation at hand as the monster got back on It's feet. 'Couldn't you have become a vegetarian?' 'No. The tests gave me a taste for blood, and besides, I don't like vegetables.' It made another attempt to get her. She felt her special power surge as she held him back. 'It's over,' she told him. 'Give yourself up.' She saw footsteps running across the forest floor. She reached for her gun. 'I don't want to have to do this, but I will if it's the only way.' She directed her energy to a needle lying on a steel table. It was filled with a pale pink glowing liquid. She lefted it up and it hovered in mid-air. She flung it at the thing, but somehow It managed to stop it, turn it around, and send it back to her. 'Ha, my anger has fueled my power. Prepare to die you worthless human!' Kelling moved out of the way and the needle got stuck ina hole in the wall. She ran towards a rack of test tubes and ducked as another syringe flew at her. She "saw" Mannchek and his team entering the building. This diversion was all It needed. Kelling let out a shriek of pain as a needle peirced the skin of her arm. Invisible hands pressed the plunger and a small amount of the pink stuff entered her blood stream before she could yank out the syringe. She was real angry now. She could feel the adreneline coursing through her body, giving her more strength than she would normally have. She looked up at the creature. Her eyes were practically glowing with rage. It walked towards her. Slowly she reached behind her for the rack of test tubes. They were out of her reach but at the slightest suggestion, one lept into her hand. She held it out of sight as the monster stood poised over It's prize. It bent down to bite her. At that moment she thrust the test tube into It's mouth and rolled away. It's jaws clicked shut on air and It swallowed the test tube. A seisure gripped It's body and It started to convulse. It's snout shrank into a stub and It's legs and arms lengthened. The greenish color of It's skin paled and then changed completely. It's tail shrank until Sarah could no longer see it. In a minute It looked human. But not for long. He was seventeen and since he was born with AIDS, he would have died around the age of ten. His body began to rapidly decompose. In two minutes, his body looked like a corpse that had been buried and then dug up seven years later. Sarah leaned against the wall. She felt really tired. Maybe it was the effects of that pink substance she had been stuck with. She would have to get it analyzed to find out what it was and if she needed an antidote. At that moment she passed out, just as Manchek and the others came running through the doors.
Kelling awoke to find someone standing over her. She gasped and then realized that it was only Manchek. She sat up cautiously. She looked around her at all the fancy medical equiptment. She opened her mouth to say something, but all that came out was a creak. She cleared her throat and gladly accepted the glass of water Manchek handed her. When she was done drinking, she managed to ask, "What was that pink stuff?" "The doctors say a heavy sedative. Luckily you didn't get a large dose or you would have been out for weeks." "What about that stuff that killed the thing?" "Somekind of experimental antidote for his condition, the doctors think. It was supposed to be injected, not ingested. Had it been injected, he might have survived, but the doctors are doubtful. Our government is trying to re-create the experiment on volentary prisonners with AIDS. We found reports by the mad scientist and when they were read by the CDC virologists and the Pentagon people, they think they know where he went wrong." "And the SWAT people?" "Two doed of blood loss. One was ripped to shreds so he died of numerous severe lacerations. Most of them had to get their stomachs sewn shut. You were the lucky one." Sarah looked into Manchek's mind and saw that he was deeply relieved that she had awakened.
She was once again on the beach. With her were the girl and her father. They were beaming at her. She heard them, 'Thank you. Now we may rest in peace.' Then they dissapeared. Replacing them was Chief Williams. He gazed fondly at her. 'You did a great job Kelling. Thank you for restoring my son to his human form, even if it did kill him. Better his soul live on as a human, not as a monster.' A ten year old boy materialized beside him. He waved at her. She waved back. 'I'm sorry that I hurt you and all those people, but I wasn't myself. I understand now that I wasn't put up for adoption because I had AIDS. My parents didn't even know. They did it because they wanted me to have a safe place for grow up in. And my father didn't make that choice, my mother did. Thank you once more!' They faded away alond with the beach and surroundings. Sarah smiled and settled into a deeper sleep.
